Junior doctors dispute rolls on as they turn their sights on the High Court

After the ill-fated September strike threat which seemed to turn the tide of public opinion and thier senior colleagues against them, the junior doctor leaders have now taken to the law courts in an effort to stop the planned implementation of the new government contract.

A group called Justice for Health is mounting a legal challenge in the High Court claiming that the new contract is unsustainable and founded on uncertain legal principles. The Group has been founded by a number of junior doctors who are at the forefront of the meovement againat the imposition of the contract. The Department of Health has responded by saying the legal action is without merit and will be vigorously contested. It is expected that the new contract will be rolled out in Octobver 2016.
