Smoking ban date now set for 1st July 2007 - 6th December 2006

The Government has announced the start date for the forthcoming smoking ban as the 1st July 2007.

The ban which will improve the health and safety of millions of workers across the country by reducing their exposure to smoke, is designed to cover all enclosed public and work places, including offices, pubs, bars etc. If you have suffered exposure to hazardous substances at work - you may be able to claim work accident compensation. Speak to one of our advisers today. The ban does not apply to outdoor working environments / public areas or to private homes.

The Government believe that up to 600,000 will quit smoking as a direct result of the ban. Smoking lobby groups are up in arms over the plans but following successful implementation of similar bans in Republic of Ireland and Scotland, the ban looks set to go ahead. A major Government promotion will take place in the build up to the plan.
