1.07.08 A bus driver, Leslie Wienberg (35 years)
was jailed this week for driving drunk at the wheel of a
coach as it overturned close to an M1 service station.
His poor driving led to an accident that injured 33
people. The driver himself was cut free from the
wreckage and was lucky to survive the crash. At the time
of the collision the coach was travelling at 57mph, it
hit the kerbside and turned on its side finally
colliding with a tree and lamppost.
The crash
happened on 3rd September 2007. Serious
personal
injury were suffered by some of the passengers and
one had to have his arm amputated.
Coaches are
nearly always fitted with seat belts nowadays but this
does not help prevent injury to passengers when faced
with this kind of incident. Anyone
injured on a
bus should seek legal advice on a possible claim for
compensation MORE NEWS:
