The driver of a car whose
friend was being towed on his bike before losing control
and being killed gets an 18 month sentence -
15th December 2009
A tragic
cycling accident killed a man after he was clinging
to a car being driven by his friend, an
uninsured driver when he lost control of his bike.
Justin Sullivan, who was
driving the car has been
sentenced to 18 months in jail,
and a two year driving ban after
admitting death by dangerous
driving leading up to this fatal
cycle accident.
The cyclist, Stuart Robst was holding on to the wing
mirror of the car being driven by Mr. Sullivan and
chatting with him, when he lost control of the bike and
let go falling off and suffering
head injuries as he hit the road.
A witness to the
road accident claims it looked like a rodeo rider
being catapulted from a horse, where he continued
rolling until he came to a halt.
Mr. Sullivan was said by his
lawyer to hold himself entirely
to blame, and always will, with
the prosecuting judge at
Cardiff Crown Court saying:
"You will have to live with it
for the rest of your life."
