Road accident claims example - rear end collision
Road accident case example - rear end collision
Here we discuss a typical road collision involving
two cars in what has to be the most common type of
accident on our roads today.
The personal injury sustained was a classic "whiplash"
type and this page helps clarify what process is usually
involved in making a claim for compensation. * The case
illustrates what happened in one particular case and is
discussed for guidance purposes only. Please seek legal
advice on your own circumstances.

The claimant was stationary in her car waiting for
traffic to move ahead in front of her. She had her
handbrake on because her car was on a slight incline.
She had been stationary for around 30 seconds when she
saw another vehicle approaching from behind - the
vehicle did not appear to be slowing down.
The driver of this vehicle was looking at his
dashboard and had not noticed that traffic had come to a
standstill ahead of him. He slammed on his brakes but it
was too late and a heavy rear impact was sustained by
the claimants vehicle.
The claimant initially seemed unhurt and she was able
to get out of the car and exchange details but after a
minute or two she felt sick and her neck was sore. An
ambulance arrived and later took her to hospital. Her
vehicle was towed away by her insurers recovery team. By
the time she reached hospital she was in great pain.
The Accident & emergency unit administered treatment
and X-rayed her neck. She was released after 3 hours and
advised to rest. Her symptoms grew steadily worse over
the next few days and she went to see her GP for some
stronger pain killers. She had 3 weeks off work for
which she received only ssp.
The claimant contacted The Claims Connection for
advice on her situation - she wanted to know whether she
could or should make a claim. We advised the claimant
that she had a very strong claim because there could be
no possible issue on liability and her injuries
warranted a claim being made.
She would be entitled to claim:
Pain and suffering compensation
Treatment costs & physio costs
Loss of earnings
Because of our
NO COST NO WIN NO FEE scheme
- she would not have to pay us a penny in fees. The
responsible drivers insurers would pay all appropriate
legal fees.
The claimant recovered from her whiplash injury after
6 months. [read more about

We settled the her case for £2000 for her whiplash
pain and suffering and secured £650 in other expenses
such as earnings / prescriptions etc. If you have been
involved in a road accident and have suffered personal
injury you may be able to pursue a compensation claim -
