This insurance is intended to cover loan or credit card repayments in the event of  redundancy or sickness. Whilst perfectly acceptable in principle – this type of insurance has proved to be hugely profitable for the lenders and as a result has been the subject of alleged wide scale mis-selling by financial institutions.
