Lifeguards watch as a father saves his son
Two lifeguards have been suspended after watching a man save his son

A father jumped fully clothed into a swimming pool to rescue his four-year-old son as lifeguards stood by watching.
Gary Jowett dived into the Spenborough Pool near Dewsbury as his son Daniel got into difficulties in the deep end during a swimming lesson. The instructor, who was standing at the side of the pool tried to reach the youngster with a pole and float but did not go into the water, instead pushing an emergency drown button, lifeguards were also stood on the side as Daniel struggled to stay afloat.
Seeing his son in danger Mr Jowett dived in fully clothed and with his phone and wallet still in his pocket. He grabbed his son and got him out of the water. Daniel was treated in hospital for shock but was able to recover at home.
Two members of staff at Spenborough Pool have been suspended following the incident which if the allegations are found to be true could amount to professional negligence.
Alasdair Brown, chief executive for Kirklees Active Leisure, which runs the baths, said: "We are in the process of carrying out an internal investigation to look into exactly what happened. We apologise wholeheartedly for any upset or distress that this incident has caused those who were involved."
