APIL - Association of Personal Injury Lawyers

APIL otherwise known as the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers was founded to help the victims of accidents, or those who become ill through no fault of their own.

They are an independent and not for profit organisation.

They campaign for improvements in personal injury law such as amendments to legislation and ensuring that all victims have access to justice.

They also aim to promote fair compensation for all victims and alert the public to hazards and so aim increase safety standards across all walks of life.

APIL also provides its members with support, training, information and also gets actively involved in press and parliamentary campaigns.

They have recently published "An Agenda For Injured People".

This has three key features;

  • Prevention
  • Fair Redress
  • Fair Debate

Prevention deals with those who are injured through an accident at work, and how to impose health and safety duties on directors of companies. It being felt that imposing such duties on company directors will improve the accountability of a company for the safety of each and every employee. Thus ensuring that health and safety at work is taken seriously and so hopefully the number of deaths and injury at work will reduce.

Fair Redress aims to give all victims fair and full redress. Both through the compensation that they may hope to receive but also through their own choice of independent legal representation.

Fair Debate encourages all of those involved in health, safety, negligence and compensation from all sides to get involved in debate about the issues affecting all those victims of injury or illness caused by accidents.

APIL have devised an accreditation scheme to identify personal injury lawyers who meet their high standards of excellence. Winston Solicitors LLP are proud to be part of the accredited practice scheme.
