Leslie Ash wins Damages following her action against hospital

Read the latest compensation legal news.

TV star Leslie Ash has won interim compensation thought to be in the region of £250,000 following her MSSA infection contracted whilst hospitalised.

1st June 2007

Leslie Ash has successfully sued London hospital the Chelsea & Westminster for damages after she contracted a variant of the MRSA bug whilst hospitalised in 2004. The illness almost killed her the TV star and even now she is still in recovery.

The actress was admitted in April 2004 following a fall in her home whereby she suffered fractured ribs and a punctured lung. Once hospitalised she became very ill very quickly and was said to be close to death at one point.

The hospital Trust has admitted some failings and in essence medical negligence hence the payout but they have refused a further award fro lost earnings which they say needs to be proven.

The battle looks set to continue as Ms Ash is to resume her case until some of the earnings revenue has been recovered.
