20th January 2007
The
British Medical Journal
recently conducted a poll of
over 11,000 people were arrested
thoughts on 16 medical
breakthroughs chosen by imminent
medical scientists. In a
rather surprising outcome, the
most popular choice was
"sanitation"
Despite huge strides in
improving sanitation in recent
years, it was believed that
more than a million people died
in 2001 as a result of a lack of
sanitation. We now have a
situation in some of our
hospitals in the UK where a lack
of hygiene and general
sanitation is thought to be
responsible for the surge in
MRSA related infections.
Many hospitals have good
standards of hygiene, but sadly
there are some examples of
extremely poor levels of hygiene
where bugs and related
infections are thought to be
rife. If you have suffered a
medical infection whilst in
hospital and wish to inquire
about a
medical negligence claim,
please contact our helpline for
immediate advice.
