GPs to perform minor surgery more often in the UK
The Government is pressing ahead with initiatives aimed at
increasing the numbers of minor operations performed by GPs.
The plan is to allow specially trained General Practitioners
to conduct minor operations at their local surgeries to help
reduce the NHS waiting lists.
Surgery in relation to varicose veins, hernias and vasectomy
procedures may be targeted as part of the new initiative.
This project may lead to more
claims for gp negligence
in the uk. However even critics are of the opinion that it
makes sense for patients to be treated in this way provided
that the practitioner is suitably trained and has the
required skill set.
