Scottish compensation claims advice - personal injury in Scotland

Compensation - Scotland

This page offers general advice regarding accident claims in Scotland.

If you have suffered a personal injury following an accident then you may be entitled to compensation. Making a compensation claim: Compensation advice (Scotland) -personal injury accidents.

The general time limit for pursuing personal injury accident claims is 3 years running from the date of any event that led to the injury.

This period is not etched in stone (more on this?) but it is a deadline to be taken seriously and it applies in the majority of Scottish personal injury claims.   Compensation claims in Scotland are dealt with in a similar fashion to those in England & Wales. There are a few key differences.

For example the No win No fee system does not operate in the same way North of the border. Whilst some lawyers in Scotland will work on this basis, success fees of up to 25% may be deducted from the claimants damages on what is known as a contingency fee agreement.

Personal injury - Scottish claims information: An experienced solicitor will be ale to tell you whether or not you have a claim.

You should contact a personal injury solicitor to progress your case.   The majority of claims involve soft tissue personal injuries which settle within 6-9 months.

The more serious the injury the longer a claim is likely to take. Average soft tissue compensation awards can reach £1500-2500
