Injuries from waxing beauty treatment

Waxing beauty treatment itself is a way of removing unwanted facial and body hair. The hairs are removed straight at their root and any new hair growth should not appear for between two and eight weeks. Almost every area of the face and body can be waxed. The areas themselves can include amongst others the eyebrows, face, arms, legs, feet, chest and abdomen and bikini area. In fact many salons refer to this procedure as a "bikini wax".

An enhancement on this procedure known as "Brazilian" waxing, has become very popular in recent years.

There are a variety of ways that the waxing can take place but usually hot wax is applied thinly to the area in question. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed onto the wax and then pulled away against the direction of the hair growth. This then removes both the wax and the unwanted hair.

This can be a painful experience but usually the pain is not long-lasting. Problems arise when the wax is overheated and burns the skin, or if the skin is not pulled taunt enough when pulling off the strip so that the skin itself is torn. There is also the threat of infection where the skin is torn.

Any new customers should also have a patch test to ensure that they do not have any allergic reactions to the wax or other chemicals used in the waxing process. Ideally this should happen a couple of weeks before the waxing treatment takes place. It is also essential that a customer is asked about their health as those with certain health conditions or on certain medications should not have waxing or proceed with utmost caution.
