Hair salon negligence: allergic reactions and burns

A lot of people book a beauty treatment in their lunch hour or after work or at the weekend. They go in and have the treatment and then go home or back to work afterwards but what shoud you do if you suffered a beauty treatment injury.

New customers or people new to a particular type of treatment should have a patch test to ensure that they are not allergic to any hair dye or product that is being used. This should take place before the treatment is used preferably a few days beforehand to check a persons reaction to it.

However, it may be that they develop a rash, blisters and swelling to the face following the treatment. The hair can fall out or become brittle or even change texture. The reaction may then intensify to the extent where the person cannot breath or develops temporary blindness and an emergency hospital admission is required. In a small number of cases death can result.

An allergic reaction can also make a person more sensitive to other cosmetic and beauty treatments. They may also develop hypersensitivity to such everyday items as shampoo and washing detergent and they may be unable to use certain types of hair dye.

People can also suffer injury following the negligent use of hairdressing equipment such as hair straighteners and curling tongs. They are super heated and if placed too close to the face and scalp can cause serious burns, hair loss and hair damage.
