Allergic reactions to beauty treatments
A lot of people book a treatment in their lunch hour or after work or at the weekend. They go in and have the beauty treatment and then go home or back to work afterwards.
New customers or people new to a particular type of treatment should have a patch test to ensure that they are not allergic to a dye, lotion, potion or chemical that is being used. This should take place before the treatment is used preferably a few days beforehand to check a persons reaction to it.
However, it may be that they develop a rash, blisters and swelling in the area where the treatment took place. The reaction may then intensify to the extent where the person cannot breath or develops temporary blindness and an emergency hospital admission is required. In a small number of cases death can result.
An allergic reaction can also make a person more sensitive to other cosmetic and beauty treatments. They may also develop hypersensitivity to such everyday items as shampoo and washing detergent.
