Supermarket floor dangers

The flooring of a supermarket is an important area as ageing surfaces or uneven ones pose a greater risk to those walking on them. Also, a smooth, wet floor constitutes a slip risk and people do often slip on floors that are still wet after they have been cleaned. In terms of cleaning, after a spillage has occurred there are different ways of doing this and staff have to choose the most appropriate depending on the circumstances, so different items spilled and different floor types mean there are different ways of cleaning up effectively

Spot cleaning is one method. This is using a paper towel or similar and is a cheap way of getting rid of a minor spill. It can be effective in clearing up a mess that is largely water-based, while mopping is also often used, but is only really effective on smoother floors as it just skims the surface of the floor. Other ways of cleaning the floor are using a sweeping brush, using a hose or a power washer, a wet or dry vacuum cleaner and a scrubber/drier machine. All these methods can be suitable in different ways. It depends on the surface.
